And so begins the roller coaster ride...

They did say our stay in the NICU would bring both ups and downs... Here's the down: The PDA STILL didn't close with surgery. Her PDA was much larger than they thought and the one-size-fits-all-PDA-clamps did not fit. The PDA is now only open a small bit and the surgeon said that about 50% of the time, the PDA will close on its own. Blah, blah, blah, I've heard this before. Now we wait until this starts to affect her body AGAIN and we will continue to do echos on her heart and will probably end up doing surgery AGAIN in time. How much time you ask? We don't know.. The end was in sight! Not really the end but the end of driving to Primary every day.. and the beginning of keeping my home clean because the hospital would be so close. Someday we will be back down here. But for now.. we will endlessly be here at Primary. The good thing about all of this is that they have started to give her milk again so she's not so hungry! As soon as they gave it to her, her oxygen need came down dramatically. She was so happy she got milk. Also, her blood pressure is MUCH better because the hole is mostly closed instead of wide open. So the plan now is to wait.. wait.. and wait some more. At least she is stable and we are grateful that this little PDA issue is all we have going on. Things could be worse and we are so happy they are not.
